Looks like I’m giving this another go, then!

Do people even still do blogs anymore?

Ah well, whatever, I’m doing it anyway.

Welcome to the Deep Stone Crypt, where I’ll post thoughts about the Destiny series, guides to help you complete various activities, and whatever else comes to mind. I’ve had a mind to do this for a while now, so I figure now’s as good a time as any to start up again.

You can call me Immernaut, I suppose. I pulled it from China Mieville’s novel Embassytown when I needed to come up with a PSN name back in 2014, and it sounded suitably sci-fi for someone who was mostly intending on playing Destiny from then on. Now that I’m on PC primarily (thank you, Cross Save), there’s no guarantee what my name will be, so let’s just stick with Immernaut here.

Why did I name this blog “Deep Stone Crypt?” Aside from being a Destiny reference, I’m a huge fan of Exos and their lore, with two of my three characters being Exos (my Warlock would have been one, but I felt Awoken fit the mystic-type better). I even wore the Deep Stone Crypt mark on my D1 Titan for a long time because I loved its look. I’m hoping that we delve into the backstory of Exos soon so we can find out what the real Crypt is.

I’ve been a fan of Destiny since the very beginning, and I mean it when I say “very beginning.” I still recall the initial ARG that announced Destiny back in February 2013, when everyone was excited to find out what Bungie had in store for its next game. I even have the Song of the Spheres emblem in Destiny 1 to prove my initial dedication to the series.

I’ve stuck with the series ever since then, from its initial rocky start, through all the ups and downs, and all the way to today. It’s a world that I’ve loved to return to over and over again, even when a lot of people wrote off the series due to the initial offering not living up to the massive hype, which should be a lesson to keep a critical eye towards things and not get swept up with the masses. I’ve watched Bungie build the series from its relatively humble beginnings to the engrossing universe it’s become today.

And now I’m gonna write about it, because writing is something I’m somewhat good at. Maybe I’ll make some videos to embed here as well, we’ll see.

I previously wrote a lot about WoW back in the day on my old site, Enhanced Elements. But after a long time playing that game and with the mediocre launch of Battle for Azeroth, I’d finally had enough last year and dropped it altogether, specifically because Destiny 2 was filling the niche much better for me. I elaborate more on this on my final post (thus far) on that blog, so I won’t go into it here.

Hopefully I can keep this going a little better than before. I’ve already got some guides written up that I’d like to publish here, and I intend on writing up a new player guide with some pointers on what to tackle first. After some friends of mine started coming into the game and not knowing where to go or what to do, I figure that would be a helpful resource.

I’ll wrap this up for now by saying welcome again, and I hope you’ll be back for more soon!
