The road ahead: Systems updates coming in year 4 of Destiny 2

Over the past few months, Bungie has been offering previews of changes to come over Destiny 2’s next year, with Beyond Light looking to offer the biggest update since Forsaken. Almost every aspect of the game is being affected in some way, from playlist activities to accessible destinations, from what gear remains usable to the mod economy, and even something as simple as how your Ghost works.

There are quite a few posts delving into system previews, most of which will occur in season 12, while others are planned for later in the year. So, for your benefit (and partly for my own), I figure a summary of all these posts would be helpful! With Beyond Light only about a month away, there will likely be a couple more to come over the next few weeks, and I’ll update this post accordingly.

Update, 10/22/20: Info on sandbox changes and Trials Adept weaponry.
Update, 10/31/20: Info on power progression and economy changes.

There was certainly a lot of reveals in this week’s stream, not only going over season 11 and the fall expansion, but also providing a taste of the next three years of the game. It was much more than I was expecting, that’s for sure.

Season of the Worthy preview: New story, activities, and loot

Now that Season of Dawn is coming to a close, Bungie has dropped the trailer and a fair amount of info for season 10, called Season of the Worthy. The Red Legion’s plans to use the Sundial to change the course of the Red War have failed, but they’re not giving up just yet. There’s always a plan B.

Unfortunately for us, the Cabal’s plan B is no less destructive. If they can’t conquer the system through conventional means, then they’ll just wipe out the Last City in one decisive blow.

If we’re going to stop them, we’re going to need to call on an unlikely ally, the only force in the system that’s powerful enough to repel the Red Legion’s desperate assault: Rasputin. Read on for details on the story, new PVE and PVP activities, and the new loot you’ll be able to acquire.

Season of Dawn: How to prepare for the Empyrean Foundation event

Bungie has released details on the next community event to come to Destiny 2: the Empyrean Foundation. Similar to the Mars community event last summer, the Empyrean Foundation will see the entire playerbase coming together in pursuit of a common goal.

The event starts on February 4th, but there are a few things you can do now to prepare.

Season of Dawn preview: New story, activities, and loot

With Season of the Undying winding down, Bungie has dropped the first info on season 9, known as Season of Dawn. And man, if that header image isn’t enough to get you excited, I don’t know what will.

Through the teaser video, website, and preview stream, we’re getting a good amount of juicy details about the next chapter in Destiny 2’s story, as well as a clearer understanding of the “evolving world” that Bungie is trying to deliver on. So let’s talk about what’s coming in less than one week.
