The final season of Destiny 2’s second year, and the last one to have content that will be going into the DCV this year, season 7 marked the Season of Opulence. Guardians returned once again to the Leviathan at the invitation of Emperor Calus, who wished to shower us with gifts and get us to stand by his side when the Darkness returned. He also had a couple problems onboard that needed to be dealt with, but at least you’d get rewarded for it.
This guide will cover all of season 7’s content, including the Menagerie, the Tribute Hall, and the Crown of Sorrow raid, as well as the Chalice of Opulence and exotic quests. There’s a fair amount to cover, so let’s head back to the Leviathan one more time.
My very long series of guides to past seasons moves right along into Destiny 2’s sixth season, Season of the Drifter. Focused primarily on the character of the Drifter (naturally), the second Annual Pass update, Joker’s Wild, introduced a new variant of Gambit, gave more characterization to the enigmatic Drifter, and added further details about the mysterious Nine. A lot of the story in this season was setting up for bigger story beats to come, so if it feels a little light on story, don’t worry, Bungie did get back to it soon enough (this season, in fact!).
This guide will briefly talk about the differences between Gambit and Gambit Prime, go over the Gambit Prime armor sets and how to acquire them from the Reckoning, and delve into a variety of quests added during the season, including a particularly fun secret mission. Time to be bad guys.
We’re approaching the tail end of season 11 now, and while I thought that we’d also be seeing the finale of the Interference mission, it seems that this week is just a repeat of last week’s mission. It’s possible that Bungie changed the date of the season’s finale event when the launch date for Beyond Light was postponed, so it may be another week or two until we wrap up Eris’s search for answers, maybe more.
However, we did get a new content drop this week, in the form of the second part of the Exodus questline, Exodus: Evacuation. This one’s a little more involved than the first part, and once again, you’ll be heading to each of the to-be-vaulted destinations to help your allies wrap up their unfinished business before evacuating.
This is also the second (and presumably final) exotic quest of the season, rewarding a weapon that should be familiar to anyone who remembers the very beginning of the Red War campaign. You’ll also score a few other item rewards along the way that will help you fill out your collection of Nightfall rewards from year 1.
My series of guides for every season of Destiny 2 continues with season 5, the Season of the Forge. This season brought the Black Armory into the game, a group of weapon manufacturers from the Golden Age, led by the mysterious Ada-1. Through a series of quests, Guardians helped her reclaim the lost Forges, crafting new weapons in the process. The story also led to a ruined section of the Last City, where Fallen pirates were attempting to break into a vault of Black Armory secrets.
This guide will cover the Forge activities, weapon crafting, exotic quests, secrets, and the Scourge of the Past raid. Without further adieu, let’s start by meeting the Exo herself.
Welcome to part 2 of my sprawling Forsaken guide, covering everything else left in the expansion. We’ll delve into Destiny’s first dungeon, slay an Ahamkara, and talk about all manner of Triumphs and Collections and Seals, as well as a few exotic quests along the way.
It’s time to return to the Dreaming City to both start and end the curse. Time loops are weird.
Update, 9/5/20: Added the Eva’s Journey lore book.
With update 2.9.1 this week, the next phase of the Season of Arrivals has begun, and it’s done so in a pretty flashy way. Aside from the Moments of Triumph event kicking off, the Pyramid ships have moved in on more worlds, and Zavala is requesting your aid in helping those stationed abroad. Meanwhile, the Pyramid above Io is offering a gift, one that you’ll craft into a new exotic weapon with Eris’s help.
The situation is looking more dire, but it’s always darkest before the dawn. With that in mind, let’s dive into what’s new and score some rewards in the process.
With the news of various year 1 destinations entering the Destiny Content Vault this fall, a pretty sizable chunk of the game will also be going away, perhaps for good. To give you some guidance on what you should check out before it’s gone, I’m going to be writing up some guides on each release of the game, including campaigns, quests, activities, loot, and triumphs.
We’re starting all the way back at the beginning with Destiny 2’s launch. Released in September 2017, Destiny 2 brought a new campaign that started off by destroying a lot of what we knew and loved in Destiny 1. If you want to revisit the Red War and the initial appearance of the Red Legion, read on!
It seems that about a week into each season, there’s a new exotic quest to do, and this season is no exception. This time around, an old favorite from Destiny 1 is making a comeback: the rapid-firing quad-barreled exotic shotgun, The Fourth Horseman. Built to hunt the biggest game in the system–the Cabal–this shotgun can obliterate just about anything you put in front of it.
In fact, Zavala wants you to use it so badly, he’s ready to give it to you for free, no questions asked. All you have to do is go get it.
Masterwork weapons have been a part of Destiny 2 since shortly after the Curse of Osiris expansion, introduced originally to help mitigate the slow super regeneration from D2’s launch and provide a little customization for year 1’s static weapon rolls. For the cost of a few Masterwork Cores (now known as Enhancement Cores), players could upgrade their weapons to boost a stat, add a kill tracker, and generate Orbs of Light on multikills.
These were followed up by exotic weapon masterworks with the Warmind expansion, though the process for upgrading exotic weapons was a little different. Players would first need to find an exotic catalyst from various in-game sources which would give the weapon its kill tracking and orb generating abilities. They’d then have to complete another objective to upgrade the weapon fully to a masterwork, furthering its capabilities in some fashion, either through boosting stats or adding a new perk to its abilities.
This guide will go over the locations of exotic catalysts, the masterwork upgrade objectives, and the resulting upgrades when the masterwork is completed.
Updated, 3/4/20: Added an additional farming spot and further details about the Sleeper Simulant masterwork perks. Updated, 3/11/20: Added info on Lumina and Tommy’s Matchbook catalysts, updated details on MIDA Multi-Tool catalyst, added note on changes to Orpheus Rigs that can affect masterwork grinding. Updated, 5/4/20: Added info on The Fourth Horseman catalyst. Updated, 10/3/20: Added info on Trinity Ghoul, Witherhoard, and Ruinous Effigy catalysts.
Well that was fast. Less than a day after my previous post, and the Corridors of Time have been solved! Now we know the result: the puzzle enabled us to begin the quest for Bastion, the first kinetic fusion rifle, a week early. The questline is relatively short and shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours to complete.
But before we get to that, I’ve got a community-related topic to discuss.
