The end of an era: Join in a very short-notice live event

Just when you think the season’s over, Bungie pulls one last rabbit out of their hat. This is just a quick post to chronicle the very last event of season 11 and Destiny 2’s third year. Since very few people read this blog anyway (but I’m glad for any number of readers, honestly), this won’t be helpful to most people, but hey, why not make a quick post about it?

Season of Arrivals: Guide to Triumphs, Collections, and getting it all done in time

Beyond Light is only three weeks away, and with the season winding down, it’s time for the standard wrap-up post! As always, you still have enough time to finish off everything that Season of Arrivals has to offer, but you’re cutting it close if you don’t get started now! That’s where this guide comes in.

I’ll be going over the various seasonal quests, Collections, and Triumphs in this post, and I’ll have links to my other posts for this season with more info on the activities themselves. Before you head off to Europa, let’s take one last tour around the Solar System as we know it and score some good rewards in the process.

Prophecy dungeon guide: Encounters, tips, and rewards

I guess I’m pretty late on this one, but to be fair, the season 1-7 guides were a bigger priority. I also didn’t want to write my dungeon guide until I really knew the dungeon inside and out, and now that I have my solo flawless completion under my belt, now’s as good a time as any to write up a guide to the only piece of season 11 content I’ve neglected so far!

Prophecy is a dungeon released with Season of Arrivals, a bonus piece of endgame content that’s free for all players and provides new rewards and some returning ones. With the Pyramids arriving in the Solar System, Eris Morn wants to find out what the Nine know about the Darkness. To do that, she enlists the help of the Drifter to send you into the Haul and learn what the Nine have to teach us.

It’s an answer that’s going to require a lot of fighting first, but that’s par for the course with Destiny. Read on for details on the dungeon encounters, suggested loadouts, and a whole lot of loot.

Note: Prophecy will be removed temporarily when Beyond Light launches on November 10th due to technical issues related to mission scripting changes. The dungeon will be reintroduced as soon as possible, but it might not be available until season 13. If you want the dungeon’s rewards, you won’t have another chance until it comes back.

A very spooky Festival of the Lost 2020 guide

In a normal year, Festival of the Lost would be the holiday event for the fall season of Destiny 2, but in a year that’s been anything but normal, things have shifted around a bit. Due to the delay of Beyond Light to November 10th, Season of Arrivals has been extended, but just because the summer season is going on longer than normal doesn’t mean that the Festival has been canceled. Not even the invasion of the Pyramids will stop Guardians from gorging themselves on candy once again.

Festival of the Lost 2020 runs from October 6th through November 3rd, so there’s a full month to earn goodies and scare your friends. Read on to learn more about the return of the Haunted Forest, new rewards, and secrets.

Season of Arrivals: The second half of the Exodus quest, and a new exotic

We’re approaching the tail end of season 11 now, and while I thought that we’d also be seeing the finale of the Interference mission, it seems that this week is just a repeat of last week’s mission. It’s possible that Bungie changed the date of the season’s finale event when the launch date for Beyond Light was postponed, so it may be another week or two until we wrap up Eris’s search for answers, maybe more.

However, we did get a new content drop this week, in the form of the second part of the Exodus questline, Exodus: Evacuation. This one’s a little more involved than the first part, and once again, you’ll be heading to each of the to-be-vaulted destinations to help your allies wrap up their unfinished business before evacuating.

This is also the second (and presumably final) exotic quest of the season, rewarding a weapon that should be familiar to anyone who remembers the very beginning of the Red War campaign. You’ll also score a few other item rewards along the way that will help you fill out your collection of Nightfall rewards from year 1.

A triumphant return: Solstice of Heroes 2020 guide

We’re currently in the middle of the Solstice of Heroes holiday, which began on August 11th and runs through September 8th. This holiday coincides with the Moments of Triumph event to cap off Destiny 2’s third year, giving all Guardians an opportunity to acquire shiny new armor sets with special glows. It also sees the return of the European Aerial Zone, a repeatable three-player activity that can be farmed for a variety of loot.

This guide is a little late in getting out, but don’t worry, you still have plenty of time to complete everything that the event has to offer. All players can participate in Solstice of Heroes regardless of expansion or season pass ownership, so read on to find out how you can score some of that fancy armor.

Updated, 8/31/20: A couple clarifications added about Titan Solar melees and the armor glow objectives.

Season of Arrivals: New quests, new exotic, and more pyramids

With update 2.9.1 this week, the next phase of the Season of Arrivals has begun, and it’s done so in a pretty flashy way. Aside from the Moments of Triumph event kicking off, the Pyramid ships have moved in on more worlds, and Zavala is requesting your aid in helping those stationed abroad. Meanwhile, the Pyramid above Io is offering a gift, one that you’ll craft into a new exotic weapon with Eris’s help.

The situation is looking more dire, but it’s always darkest before the dawn. With that in mind, let’s dive into what’s new and score some rewards in the process.

Moments of Triumph 2020 guide: New title, rewards, and unlimited raid drops

Capping off the third year of Destiny 2 is the annual Moments of Triumph event, lasting from Bungie Day (July 7th) until the launch of Beyond Light on September 22nd. This event allows Guardians to commemorate their accomplishments over the past year, as well as score some exclusive new rewards to add to their collection.

On top of that, Bungie is making it easier than ever for those who are still chasing down rewards from raids that will be vaulted in September by lifting the loot lockout for the rest of the season, as well as providing some alternate pathways to earning some sought-after rewards. If you’re still missing Anarchy or Tarrabah, or if the Luxurious Toast emote continues to elude your grasp, you should have no trouble getting these rewards over the next couple months.

Although the event begins today, the Triumph Seal and associated title will not be able to be completed until the Solstice of Heroes event launches on August 11th. This guide will be updated with the relevant Triumphs when that event begins.

Updated, 10/11/20: Overdue clarifications on a couple Triumphs and the MMXX seal.

Season of Arrivals intro: Questlines, activities, and new reward systems

The final season of Destiny 2’s third year has kicked off in a big way, with the Pyramid fleet entering the Solar System at last. First teased at the end of the Red War campaign, their slow and inexorable progress has led them here. But rather than find ourselves on the verge of a second Collapse, they seem to be calling out to us. What is their message, and what is their purpose?

This season brings a new public event, a weekly lore quest, and a new reward system similar to the Menagerie that lets you focus your rewards a bit more. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get to it.

Updated, 6/17/20: Contact moves to different zones. The Umbral Enhancement II perk has been fixed.

Destiny 2 reveal stream recap: new expansions, returning content, and the future

There was certainly a lot of reveals in this week’s stream, not only going over season 11 and the fall expansion, but also providing a taste of the next three years of the game. It was much more than I was expecting, that’s for sure.

Bungie laid out their vision for the future of Destiny 2, including some systems changes that are designed to help them support the game for years to come. It’s a lot to talk about, so let’s jump in.
